IHSLogNet Functional Training CD

This CD based tutorial provides a brief introduction and overview on the functionality of the IHS LogNet online application. This course reviews various ways to search for well log information. Well logs are then selected for purchase. The course concludes by accessing, displaying and saving purchased logs.

Module 1 - Introduction and Overview begins with an overview of the homepage. Text-based searches and Map-based searches for well log data are reviewed. Well reports are created and available well log information is retrieved. Image and/or Digital logs are selected and purchased.

Module 2 - Text Based Searches covers procedures utilizing text based searches for well log data. We begin by reviewing data download options. The Databank Search page is accessed and the various search options are reviewed. The Research Assistant page is then accessed and options to search for well log data by API number, Well Name, and State or County criteria is reviewed.

Module 3 - Map Based Searches reviews map based searches for well log data. Search procedures from the homepage, from the Databank Search screen and from the Research Assistant page are reviewed. An overview of the GIS screen is covered along with the various toolbar functions.

Module 4 - Well Reports and Log Data options from the My Log History page are reviewed. Various sections of a Well Report are covered and available Well Logs are selected for Checkout. Options in the Databank Order Form are then covered.

Module 5 - Accessing Purchased Well Log Data begins by reviewing an email notification acknowledging a well log purchase. An overview of the My Files section is provided. We will then download, and save an image log file and a digital log file. The eLog Image Viewer is then reviewed.
