Industry standard in Nodal analysis

Turn inefficient wells and flowlines into optimal performers
A typical production engineer manages dozens, if not hundreds, of wells, with each well representing substantial revenue. With such high economic stakes, engineers must maximize both ends of the balance sheet, increasing production while reducing costs.

The world standard for Nodal analysis
PERFORM, a high-quality well system analysis tool, helps engineers boost production by turning inefficient wells into optimal performers. PERFORM lets you gain a thorough understanding of individual wells and flowlines to improve completion design, enhance productivity and achieve greater overall efficiency. This cost-effective well-flowing simulation software has become the world standard for Nodal analysis, and is trusted by engineers in more than 45 countries.

Model virtually any situation
PERFORM lets you model wells and flowlines for practically any situation. Model downhole networks, and injection, vertical, multilayer and multilateral wells, both onshore and offshore. Perform gradient analysis, coiled tubing calculations, gas lift optimization and flow assurance calculations. You can also simulate chokes, tubing, pipe, reservoir and heat loss scenarios. The ability to model everything in one application brings tremendous efficiency to well and flowlines design and analysis.

Built-in PVT correlations
Calculate fluid properties quickly and accurately with a comprehensive set of PVT correlations built right into PERFORM. PERFORM also allows import of compositional and black oil data from PVTLIB®. IHS's PVTLIB has more than 140 correlations from around the world.

Use PERFORM to optimize both new and existing wells:

    New wells
  • Size tubing and flowlines
  • Size restrictions and velocity strings
  • Design offshore wells and flowlines
  • Design completions (perforations, gravel pack)
  • Model water and gas injection
  • Select separator pressure and horsepower requirements in pumps or compressors
    Existing wells
  • Improve well performance
  • Evaluate future changes (water cut, reservoir pressure)
  • Estimate unknown reservoir parameters
  • Optimize gas lift
  • Evaluate stimulation effectiveness
  • Predict flow assurance (hydrates, scales, flow bottlenecks)
  • Model heat transfer (simple and rigorous)
  • Analyze information about PVT data, flow patterns, production per layers, etc.
  • Answer "what-if" questions related to workover and production optimization
    Graphical user interface
  • A friendly and easy-to-use visual interface, with clue graphs, guides you through all major components of the well system. Placing the mouse over the well schematic gives users access to key input parameters for each component.
  • A flexible units conversion tool allows you to use different units for the same variable at different components.
  • Graphical outputs signal unloading and erosional limit rates in gas wells.
    Advanced design scenarios
  • Save time in the completions design process. Model downhole networks, both multilayer (up to 10 layers) and multilateral wells with nine different configurations. Evaluate both cases, including cross-flow calculations.

PERFORM offers a range of features for quick, yet comprehensive design:

  • Model unloading operations via velocity strings and N2 injection through coiled-tubing.
  • Import complex well and flowline profile surveys.
  • Node location also allowed at the riser outlet (to isolate the effect of this important component for offshore analysis)

    Gas lift optimization
  • With PERFORM, you can enter gas lift mandrel depths and optimize the depth of gas injection to ultimately increase production. You can also calculate production/injection pressure profiles and estimate optimum gas injection rates and pressures.
A range of downhole performance models
  • Choose from 14 IPR models available for both vertical and horizontal oil wells, and nine IPR models for vertical and horizontal gas wells. New version also includes gas/water coming and cresting models for vertical and horizontal oil and gas wells.
  • Future IPR correlations are included.
  • Estimate total skin factor, including mechanical, partial penetration, geometrical and perforation pseudo-skins.
Nine completion types for pressure drop
  • Enhance decision-making by analyzing nine different completion types for pressure drop. For perforation, you can calculate perforation depth based on concrete test data. New correlation to calculate total skin is also included.
    Multiple correlations for outflow performance
  • Calculate outflow performance with 14 correlations for oil and eight correlations for gas. Choose from both empirical and mechanistic models.
  • Use two different correlations for pressure drop through wellbore and flowline at different sections of the pipe.
  • Take advantage of four different techniques for temperature calculation, including four correlations.
  • Increase your accuracy by modeling pressure drop through restrictions (such as chokes) using different correlations.
  • Ability to calibrate correlations versus field data improves multiphase correlation accuracy.
  • PERFORM generates outflow (VLP) tables for many commercial simulators, including VIP and Eclipse and IHS's material balance program OilWat®/GasWat®.
Surface facilities analysis for both onshore and offshore
  • PERFORM models equipment such as compressors, heaters, coolers, pumps and separators. Offshore well will also include risers and downcomers.
  • Results of in-depth analysis from PERFORM can be fed into IHS's Pipesoft-2® for more complex well/flowline/pipeline/facility network analysis.
    Configuration reports
  • Keep track of all links and layers when using multilayer and multilateral configurations with a complete report.
