Valtus Ortho Photos Imagery

An accurate, photographic base map

IHS provides access to the Valtus Ortho Photos Image dataset through IHS applications including IHS AccuMap® and IHS Enerdeq® Desktop, as well as all industry applications that support OGC WMS data delivery.  These high resolution ortho-rectified photographs enable Oil and Gas professionals to clearly see details like pipeline right of ways, roads, muskeg, lakes, streams and other surface features. In addition, subscribers can overlay multiple public and proprietary datasets like wells, pipelines and seismic outlines to get a more detailed understanding of a particular area of interest. 
 
Ortho Photos provide a true representation and accurate photographic base map of the earth's surface within 5 - 10m, with scalable images and uniform scale so users can accurately measure and print standard to large format maps. The images are all rectified to the terrain surface model (DEM), allotting for the earth’s curvature and enabling more accurate measurements directly from a map.

Coverage

  • Alberta coverage extends over 4,000 townships with standard refresh of 40cm color over the next three years.
  • British Columbia coverage spans over 100,000 km2 and includes all major exploration areas. 
  • Saskatchewan coverage includes over 34,000 km2.

Valtus Imagery Services has partnered with IHS to provide fast and easy access to their Ortho Photo Images to the Oil and Gas industry. Valtus focuses on delivering the highest-quality imagery with factors of projection, resolution and image selection managed on-the-fly. Their database currently includes 40 centimeter to 1 meter resolution, color imagery across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and 15m satellite imagery world-wide. Since March 2006 they have added complete coverage for the US states of Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, North Dakota, Utah, Idaho, California, and Texas. Valtus continues to add North American data on a monthly basis.
