Scanning, database indexing and file conversion is a large part of IHS's business. Our imaging and scanning experts can complete your conversions for you in a fraction of the time you could do it
in-house. Our highly skilled team utilizes the most recent and productive equipment, saving you time and expense.
Image Scanning
- Our scanning process utilizes high-resolution capture techniques to scan log data for use in your systems. Well logs can be scanned by high speed scanners into bimodal,
grayscale and color formats. Additionally, TIFF Group IV scanning standards, at 400 dpi, increase pixel clarity and
provide a better source document for digital file format conversions (i.e. LIS/LAS, etc.) and Image Depth Registration.
Image Indexing
- IHS utilizes unique and unparalleled "Identity Resolution" methodology when Indexing Well Log Images. Through integration of our LOG MANAGER indexing tool and IHS Well Data Records we are able to positively match Well Log Images with the appropriate Well Data Record.
Image Depth Registration
- We capture and record the position of all the header, scale, parameter and tool sections. Depths are associated with positions on the image over the log sections to allow software packages the ability to create cross sections and/or pick formation tops. Our image registration can be export for several popular software packages in addition to the upcoming POSC XML image calibration specifications.
Additional Imaging Services
- Aperture Cards: Every image undergoes rigorous quality control procedure to obtain the best image possible. High throughput allows for quicker turnaround times. Populate a customized database from hole-punch information stored on each card.
- Microfiche and roll film (16mm & 35mm): We use the SunRise Imaging Proscan Microfilm Scanner to convert microfilm images to digital images. The award winning Sunrise system is uniquely designed to ensure both the highest quality scanning and the most efficient production throughput for the scanning of microfiche and roll images.
- Large Format (Engineering) Documents: We use a combination of wide format digital and analog scanners to handle documents larger than 11"x17". We can also reproduce high quality images from documents of varying qualities, including poor quality originals. We constantly upgrade and replace our equipment to ensure we are using the most current industry-standard equipment and capabilities. We can scan to CALS, TIFF, CIT and many other raster file formats.
- High Speed Source (Legal/Letter) Documents: Legacy paper documents can easily be captured and imported into a wide variety of document management systems. Information captured at the time of scanning can be used as a document index and populated into an existing database. We can scan up to 100 images per minute (IPM) when duplex scanning, 60 IPM for simplex, on up to 11"x17" sized original documents.
