IHS provides the most comprehensive and trusted land data source within the Canadian Oil & Gas market. Built around industry activity, IHS Mineral Land Data provides the cornerstone of exploration efforts with freehold database accumulation beginning in the 1950s with the first Field Title Service Office that opened in Calgary. It is the most mature and complete comercial land database available.

IHS has a mature and deep database of Federal and Provincial Crown Land data. IHS also updates and maintains an Open Crown (Available Crown) Land file for Western Canada. Our Crown Land file contains important Sale and Issue Dates, Zonal Rights, leased substances, detailed land descriptions, and the number of Agreement Hectares. IHS strives to update its Crown Land database with the most up to date land sale information. All land sales are added to our database within 24 hours of government publication.

IHS began collecting Freehold records over 50 years ago. Field Title Service data collection is the backbone for the IHS Freehold Land database. Our Freehold database was built from a paper database collected on recipe cards and hand drawn platsheets. Much of the historical data collected comes from Land Title offices in Western Canada. IHS loads weekly digital updates of Alberta Freehold Title information - including new titles and leases.

• IHS Crown Survey Plan Image - IHS distributes images of surveyed surface activity plans on Crown-managed surface lands.
• IHS Land Text Data - This data uses text, symbols and boundary linework to represent key aspects of all Crown and Freehold lease dispositions simultaneously without overlap or visual conflict.
