Land Data

IHS is the most complete and accurate crown and detailed freehold land ownership database in Canada. Available over the IHS Network and through AccuMap™, we bring you 50 years of data accumulation for Open & Disposed Crown, Freehold, Indian and Dominion Crown. Our Land file the most trusted and comprehensive within the Canadian oil and gas market.
Identify current mineral ownership, lands posted for sales, rights expirations and amounts paid for mineral rights. Access the most comprehensive and valuable insights into land activity, determine working interest owners, and granted rights for your areas of interest. Updated daily, our Land data is the only source of detailed freehold land information, captured from individual titles from field offices across Western Canada.
Specialized document reviewers examine and enter public documents related to the ownership, lease and provision of Freehold mineral rights, including title ownership, geographic land descriptions, granted rights, substances, open or leased status, held by production information, held under agreement information, and unit outlines.
To ensure comprehensiveness and quality, one million documents are reviewed per year by a staff of 10 administrators. Daily, 30 quality assurance checks are performed. Our processes are monitored for completeness; much of the data is manually input and audited. In AB, you can get sales and posting information the next day. AB Crown units are updated daily, the Northern Territories are updated quarterly, and B.C. and SK are updated monthly.
We’ve fully implemented our industry leading Land file into the Mineral Rights Database (MRDB). You can access our Land data in either PIDM or MRDB data models, providing you access flexibility.
