NERC Opens Comment Period for Transmission Relay Loadability Standard

The North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) Standards Authorization Committee (SAC) posted the first draft of the Transmission Relay Loadability Standard for a 45-day comment period.

The draft standard will be available for comment through Sept. 29, 2006.

According to NERC, this standard codifies the relay loadability criteria embodied in:

  • NERC Recommendation 8a - Improve System Protection to Slow or Limit the Spread of Future Cascading Outages.

  • U.S./Canada Power System Outage Task Force Recommendation 21A - Make More Effective and Wider Use of System Protection Measures.
