A wildcat is being drilled by Maersk Oil & Gas on its Gita prospect, which is testing a new play on the Danish Shelf. The "Ensco 101" J/U spudded Gita 1X on the Tail End Graben. Proposed total depth is 5,200m, with drilling costs of US$ 63 million anticipated. The prospect is HP/HT with potential reserves of 200-1,100 MMboe, according to partner PA Resources, while partner Noreco puts them at 433 MMboe. It straddles licenses 9/95 and 9/06, between Svend, Amalie and Harald. Gita was defined on 3D seismic in an Upper Jurassic turbidite channel play fairway, where sands are believed to have flowed southward into the area and been sourced by the Upper Jurassic Farsund Formation, which is also likely to be the seal for Gita.

Top of the reservoir is expected at around 4,100m. There is also potential in the Middle Jurassic. If successful, the most likely development scenario would be a tie-back to Harald 8km to the north.  In April 2008 Noreco (through Altinex) acquired Chevron's interest in the two licenses, while Shell farmed out part of its interest to PA Resources in August 2008. Current interests in 9/95 are held by Maersk (31.2%, operator), PA Resources (26.8%), DONG (20%), Altinex (12%) and Shell (10%), while the breakdown in 9/06 is Maersk (31.2%, operator), PA Resources (26.8%), Danish North Sea Fund (20%), Altinex (12%) and Shell (10%).
