Uruguay's national oil company Ancap will open a bid round on 1 December that will offer 11 offshore blocks in water depths ranging from 50 to about 1,500m of water. According to an announcement made at the Ingepet conference in Lima in mid-October 2008, bids will be due on 1 July 2009. A preliminary map of the blocks has been prepared and reportedly some 20 companies have approached Ancap expressing an interest in the bid round, including large companies from the US, China and Europe.
