Salamander Energy shooting 2D seismic in Laos

Salamander Energy has started to shoot a 300km 2D seismic survey over its Savannakhet PSC in late April 2008. The survey is to be undertaken over several significant prospective structures, with a view to drilling an exploratory well 2009. According to Salamander, at least three good leads warrant further investigation and initial indications are that the most promising lead could be indicative of a 1 Tcf gas prospect. The UK-based company was awarded the 31,000 sq km tract in 2007, marking the first license in Laos since 1998. The last geophysical activity in the non-producing country was in 1996.
