Providence Resources moves to Dunmore appraisal - Ireland

The GlobalSantaFe "Arctic II" S/S is being mobilized to the adjacent Dunmore structure after Providence Resources abandoned its Hook Head appraisal in the Celtic Sea. The 50/11-4 well reached to a total depth of 1,486m, encountering just 9.14m of pay in Lower Cretaceous sands above the primary objective. According to Providence, the well results suggest the majority of the Hook Head resource lies in the central part of the structure although the north-west flank could provide additional resources. The 50/6-D well will now be drilled to appraise the Dunmore East (50/6-1) oil discovery, located 20km north of Hook Head. That well flowed at 2,100 b/d of 44° API oil from Jurassic sands.  Re-evaluation of the data suggests that the main structure contains contingent resources of around 18 MMbo.
