Pan Orient Energy tests onshore Thailand well for 3,940 bo/d - Thailand
A record has been set for the highest oil flow rate at an onshore Thailand well by Pan Orient Energy in the Na Sanun East (NSE) field. The deviated L44H-D1 well flowed 3,940 b/d of 35.5° API crude with a minimal water cut of 0.05%. It was tested through the casing on a 38/64" choke and tubing at 26/64" choke. Flowing wellhead pressures were 280-285 psi. The new producer was drilled to a total measured depth of 1,217m, or 866m true vertical depth. The top of the main volcanic reservoir was reached at about 1,016m (755m, TVD). More than 200m of the reservoir was penetrated, when the decision was made to stop drilling even though the bit was still in the volcanic zone. According to partner Carnarvon Petroleum, the L44H-D1 has an oil column of at least 150m. Consequently, the partners are considering drilling up to 12 horizontal wells in the NSE field. The well is part of an ongoing, multi-rig program in the area, in which the NS6-D1A sidetracked well has been completed flowing 615 b/d of 35.5° API oil on an 18/64" choke. In addition, the Aztec #14 rig is drilling the Wichian Buri Deep 1 well toward an objective of 1,503m.
