Reliance continues run of deepwater success - India

Claiming a fourth successful well to impact the Dhirubhai natural gas development on the KG-DWN-98/3 (D6) (Krishna-Godavari Offshore) deepwater block, Reliance Industries is believed to have discovered a new high-potential Pliocene gas zone in its AA-1 well. Further details are awaited, but in the interim the Transocean "Deepwater Frontier" D/S has been retained in the license and is now drilling the Q-1 well at a location around 15km west of the AA-1 well. The Transocean "Discoverer 534" and "Deepwater Expedition" drillships are expected to boost this exploration drive and be under contract to Reliance from July 2007 and March 2008, respectively.
