Premier tests Blackbird for combined 5,883 bo/d, 4.12 MMcfg/d - Vietnam

Premier Oil has successfully drillstem tested its offshore Vietnam well in Block 12E in the Nam Con Son Basin. The 12E-CS 1X (Blackbird) exploration well yielded oil from two zones in the main Middle Dua sandstone target: 2,177 bo/d and 1.63 MMcfg/d, through a 44/64-inch choke with a wellhead pressure of 618 psi; and 3,706 bo/d with 2.49 MMcf/d of gas, through a one-inch choke with a wellhead pressure of 544 psi from a second, shallower zone. No water was produced during either test. Premier says the well will be sidetracked to obtain further information from the reservoir as well as accelerate the appraisal of the field, beginning with resource assessment and reservoir evaluation reports. Last month, Premier said it had encountered four oil-bearing horizons in the main Middle Dua target, with in excess of 70m of net pay. The Diamond Offshore "Ocean General" S/S drilled Blackbird to a total depth of 4,058m in about 95m water. Targeting the same large tilted fault block with outside closure, it is essentially an updip re-drill of Samedan's 2001 wildcat some 6.5km to the north north-east, the 12E-LK 1X (Lark) which encountered good oil and gas shows. Premier operates with a 37.5% interest. Partners are Santos (37.5%) and Delek Energy (25%).
