IHS Energy Offers Critical Gulf of Mexico Information to Businesses and Agencies Struggling to Resume Operations Post Hurricane Katrina

HOUSTON (September 13, 2005) – As oil and gas companies affected by Hurricane Katrina turn their attention toward assessing damage and beginning the long recovery process, IHS Energy has made much of its information about Katrina-impacted oil and gas production and infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico available to the public on its Web site.

“As the impact of this disaster unfolded, we decided that one of the quickest and best ways we could help was by sharing some of our vast resources of information, insight and technologies with our customers, emergency response teams, community planners and others who are evaluating the impact of hurricane Katrina, particularly as it relates to oil and gas infrastructure and activity,” said Ron Mobed, COO and president, IHS Energy.

With that in mind, IHS Energy, along with our colleagues at CERA (Cambridge Energy Research Associates), a division of IHS Energy and leading energy analysts, have created a post-hurricane resource page (http://www.ihsenergy.com/news/katrina/index.jsp).

Updated daily, the resource page contains critical information from IHS’ Energy News on Demand™, its analysts, editorial teams, researchers and cartographers that is helpful in assisting affected businesses regain operations. Content ranges from damage reports and operational status to detailed maps, infrastructure production and drilling details.

“On behalf of the entire IHS family, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who has been impacted by this tragedy. A number of roots-up initiatives have been developed within IHS, which we hope will provide relief and support in some way,” said Mobed.
