HOUSTON (August 18, 2005) – According to key findings from IHS Energy's 2005 update of its Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Deep Shelf Production Performance Analogs, nine of the Shelf's newest fields are among the top 20 producing fields in the GOM Deep Shelf. This and other key findings will be discussed at the third annual Back to the Shelf Series, which will be presented by Wes Johnson and Lloyd Barfoot of PetroSolutions, which co-authored the study with IHS Energy.

In addition, industry experts from some of the largest deepwater Shelf operators will explore key issues affecting profitability and possibilities of deep and ultra-deep Shelf wells. The series will be kicked off at 8:15 a.m. by Tom Fry, who will address offshore provisions in The Energy Policy Act of 2005. Luncheon keynote speaker Mark Menezes, Chief Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Energy and Commerce, will provide an overview of the Act.
