Gulf of Mexico - IHS Energy's Perspective on Increased GOM Activity

Afternoon press briefings, Radisson Edwardian, Heathrow, London 25th June, Lunch 12.00 – 1.30p.m. briefings 1.30p.m. onward.

Join us as our panel of experts puts into perspective world oil forecasts, supply and demand dynamics in the North American gas market, and new technical assessments for both the GOM Deepwater and Deep Shelf. Learn why this “hot region” is attracting renewed interest by N. American and overseas oil and gas operators.

You will gain an improved understanding of current performance in the Deep Shelf and Deepwater GOM, as well as future production potential, price expectations and new methods for portfolio modeling specific to the GOM. You will also be better armed to examine longstanding GOM technical challenges, and will learn new ways of benchmarking field developments.

Developments will be examined in three sessions:

  • Opening Session: 20-minutes (plus 5-minute Q&A): General overview supported by the fiscal, technical and political state of this region. Where does the GOM fit in the global business setting (compare/contrast)? Session includes insight on the infrastructure, the market, what makes the GOM attractive from a business and political perspective, and how deepwater gas production is increasing at strong rate in a large, booming energy market. Pete Stark, Ph.D., V.P., IHS Energy will open this session.
  • Technical Overview: 20-minutes (plus 5-minute Q&A) session on why the GOM is attractive from a technical standpoint (this ties to the findings from two IHS Energy GOM production performance studies, presented by Steve Trammel and Tom Harris).
  • Fiscal Overview: 20-minutes (plus 5-minute Q&A) session based on the findings from IHS Energy’s N. American Gas Business Model, a thorough analysis of the North American gas supply, demand and transportation issues. The session will address the favorable economic aspects relating to GOM gas as well as the risks, costs, prices in this area.

The sessions are being held as part of IHS Energy’s International User Meeting – please reserve your place by contacting Cobalt Media, or tel: +44 (0) 117 9667733.
