Ron Mobed is Energy President and Chief Operating Officer of IHS. Ron has a history of success in growing and transitioning businesses through innovation and by focusing on customer needs. He has a wide range of U.S. and international experience in the energy industry with a diverse background in operations, product management, software development, marketing, professional services and information technology. Ron has been instrumental in helping the company transition its offerings and expanding its services to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
Prior to joining IHS, Mobed was with Schlumberger for 22 years. During his career with Schlumberger, he served in multiple executive leadership roles including Vice President of GeoQuest Asia and Vice President and General Manager of Information Management for Schlumberger GeoQuest, as well as other sales, marketing, consulting and management positions.
Ron speaks several languages, including English, French and Malaysian/Indonesian. He is a frequent speaker and presenter and has authored papers on subjects including gas exploration technologies, petrophysical interpretation, data management and knowledge management in oil & gas, business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
Mobed received his bachelor's degree in Engineering from Trinity College at the University of Cambridge in 1980, and was awarded his master's in Petroleum Engineering with distinction from Imperial College at the University of London in 1987. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA). |
